The best pour-over in the cities, and currently our favorite spot. SK shares a patio with Lake Monster Brewing, and there's almost always a food truck out front (schedule here).
[Update, 2025: Lake Monster stopped hosting food trucks in favor of selling their own mediocre pizza. We will never forgive them. SK still the best coffee in the city though.]
The best all-around coffee shop. Great coffee of any style and a great atmosphere, but the location is a bit out of the way. Molly's favorite coffee shop of them all, serving up her city-wide favorite dirty chai.
Great chips and salsa, solid tacos, and quick service. Walking distance of two excellent breweries (Bauhaus and Indeed), and two great coffee shops (Spyhouse and Dogwood).
An Italian eatery in Saint Paul, Due's sandwiches are serious business (and Alex is almost never impressed by a sandwich). We both like the Prosciutto best. Alex has a weakness for their tiramisu, and Molly enjoys their seasonal lemonades.
Molly gets the NE Hill Turkey sandwich, Alex enjoys the Farro & Squash salad and the single-person cheese board. Above all else, don't leave without trying their Crescent City Ransom coffee drink.
One of the best patios in Minneapolis and some of the best beers too (also some excellent N/A beers). The Animales food truck lives at Bauhaus, and serves some of the best BBQ in the city.
A quintessential brewery with a clean indoor space and some nice outdoor seating too. Probably the brewery Alex and Molly have spent the most time at. Foodtruck schedule here.
Delicious new Laotian restaurant with a fantastic rooftop deck. Highly recommended to order a variety and share amongst your party. Our favorites are the calamari, the red curry, and the egg & basil fried rice. Walk-in only.
The best pizza we've ever had. Our favorites are the Tavern Pie and the Margherita. Young Joni books out long in advance, so make reservations early or plan to enjoy their pizza from Dangerous Man (see above) or Back Bar (see below).
A bourbon/rye split old fashioned that doesn't miss, and their other drinks are great too. Sonder also serves the best brussels sprouts in town. Happy hour 4-6 daily, 10-12 weekends, and all day Sundays.
A sleek Japanese whiskey bar tucked away on the second floor of North Loop's Kado no Mise. Not a classic old fashioned but it hits all the right notes, and does so with more style than anywhere else.
The best pure rye old fashioned we've found in the cities, and their in-house harvest whiskey variety holds its own as well. Don't make an extra trip though, because you'll be at Norseman for our wedding reception.
One of our favorite spots in the cities. Young Joni's Back Bar — hidden behind a nondescript door in the restaurant's side alley — boasts an excellent selection of classic cocktails. The cherry on top: this walk-in speakeasy offers Young Joni's full pizza selection.
A new speakeasy-esque bar by the acclaimed local bitters maker Dashfire, Elusive offers great cocktails inside a sleek lounge burried deep within a Northeast Minneapolis warehouse.
A unique experience in the basement of Billy Sushi, head down the alleyway to the back of the restaurant and look for the laser lights and "B.A.D." iconography to find your way in.
Near and dear to our hearts. Known for their fresh-grapefruit greyhound cocktails, though you won't find them on the menu. Molly enjoys their G&T. Surprisingly good food, served until midnight. Nothing like a late-night pile of fries.
